Milwaukee Faces Deadline To Keep U.S. Bowling Congress HQs

U.S. Bowling Congress (USBC) COO Kevin Dornberger has asked officials in Milwaukee to submit a proposal by today to keep the organization's HQs in the city, according to Judy Keen of USA TODAY. The USBC is considering relocating to Arlington, Texas, and a final decision will be made on March 14, when the USBC's "contractual hold on property in Arlington expires." The USBC has been based in Milwaukee since 1907, but the USBC BOD last month voted to "start negotiations for a move." While a relocation to Arlington has not been finalized, Dornberger "warns that Milwaukee must find ways to reduce the cost of doing business here." Dornberger noted Texas does not have personal income taxes, and health care costs and real estate taxes are "more affordable there." The Bowling Proprietors' Association of America HQs are also located in Arlington, and Dornberger said that "proximity would allow the two groups to collaborate on youth and coaching programs" (USA TODAY, 2/20).
