Real Madrid Again Tops Deloitte Football Money League

Real Madrid for the third straight year tops the Deloitte Football Money League, which ranks int’l soccer clubs based on revenue from business operations for the '06-07 season. Manchester United jumps two spots to No. 2, joining Real Madrid as the first soccer clubs to generate more than US$440M in a season. Deloitte Sports Business Group Partner Dan Jones: "Arsenal's move to the Emirates Stadium has transformed their revenues whilst Chelsea's revenue increase sees them return to the top five." FC Barcelona fell one spot to No. 3. All values below have been converted from Euros to U.S. dollars (Deloitte).

NOTES: In London, Mark Ogden writes with English Premier League clubs "now benefiting from the new" three-year, US$3.34B TV broadcasting deal, worth approximately US$54.9M annually to each club, Deloitte predicted that "10 of the world's 20 largest generators of revenue next year will be provided by the Premier League." ManU last season recorded a 30% increase in revenues, helping it jump ahead of Barcelona and Juventus, which dropped from No. 3 to No. 12 (London TELEGRAPH, 2/15).
