Spring Flings: FSN To Air Highlights Of MSL's Gridiron Bash

FSN and the Big Ten Network will air two one-hour shows centered around MSL’s Gridiron Bash, an event featuring live music the evening before spring football practice at select college campus April 19 and 20. The shows will be broadcast from the Big Ten Network studio in Chicago, with hosts Dave Revsine and Mike Hall anchoring the coverage (MSL). In this week’s SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, Terry Lefton writes the two one-hour shows will air at 9:00pm ET both nights. An MSL official said that the company and FSN would see a “revenue split with shared production costs.” Among the concerts booked so far are the Counting Crows at Colorado, the Goo Goo Dolls at Kansas State, Fergie at Penn State and ZZ Top at Texas A&M. Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift and the Black Crowes are among other artists who have committed to the event. Arizona State, Iowa, West Virginia, Tennessee and South Carolina are among the schools that also will host a concert. MSL hopes to use the concert series to "make the spring football practices as popular as college basketball’s ‘Midnight Madness.’" USA Today is an equity partner in the series and “will be a part of the $3.5[M] worth of advertising supporting the college marketing effort” (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 2/11 issue).
