SI Editor Terry McDonell, in a statement, said published reports that have indicated the magazine is considering a cover referencing Leonardo da Vinci’s “Last Supper” for its Masters preview or any other issues are “totally inaccurate.” McDonell: “A related concept tied to the magazine’s 50th Anniversary cover, which depicted sports greats as Leonardo might have painted them, was discussed among a small number of editors without my knowledge. The casting call in question was a mistake and should not have been posted” (GOLF.com, 2/11).

SI.com Goes With Lighter Colors And
Less Clutter On Redesigned Homepage
NOTES: BLOOMBERG NEWS’ Adam Freeman reported Italian Serie A club AS Roma will receive US$94M from Mediaset to extend a broadcasting contract that will allow the network to broadcast domestic Roma matches through the 2009-2010 season (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 2/8)....ESPN has been running “SportsCenter Right Now” updates at the top of the hour from 7:00am-5:00pm ET each day on "SportsCenter" and other programs, as well as on ESPN.com. The “SportsCenter Right Now” name replaces the “SportsCenter Reset” on “SportsCenter” and the “SportsCenter Minute” on ESPN.com and ABC (THE DAILY)....The SI.com homepage has been redesigned with an effort of going with lighter colors and less clutter. SI Digital President Jeff Price said the idea was to “simplify navigation and create a cleaner page so fans could get deeper into the site with ease. We have also seen very strong engagement in products like mySI, so we made that a more prominent part of the homepage experience. ... From an advertiser perspective, we’ve created a less cluttered environment that allows creative to work harder. In the coming months you’ll see this design template across the entire site, first with the section fronts and finally the story pages” (THE DAILY).
