Like A Good Neighbor: State Farm Signs Deal With LeBron

State Farm insurance has signed a deal with Cavaliers F LeBron James, "augmenting its expansive roster of major sports properties," according to Terry Lefton in this week's SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. State Farm also has signed a deal with Turner "that makes State Farm the on-air presenting sponsor during" TNT's Saturday night coverage of the NBA All-Star Weekend in New Orleans. James this weekend in New Orleans "is expected to participate in community initiatives" and "eventually appear in ads" for State Farm (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 2/11 issue). The LeBron James Foundation on Thursday will open a playground at the St. Bernard Recreation Center in New Orleans, which was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina was rebuilt in '06. The playground is the first in a nationwide initiative by the foundation to build playgrounds in various communities across the U.S., and State Farm is sponsoring the inaugural installation (Cavaliers).
