Rockies Build "Super Suite" At Coors Field For Special Events
The Rockies are "tearing up nine luxury boxes" overlooking the first-base line at Coors Field to "build a 'super suite' that companies and other groups can reserve for special events," according to James Paton of the ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS. The Rockies would not divulge the cost of the project, which is expected to be completed in mid-March, though Denver Metropolitan MLB Stadium District Chair Ray Baker said that "taxpayer dollars are not being used to finance the upgrade and the club is picking up the entire tab." Rockies Senior VP/Business Operations Greg Feasel, "noting Invesco Field at Mile High and the Pepsi Center have spacious areas they can rent," said, "Larger is better. We've had a lot of requests we haven't been able to handle." Former tenants of the boxes, including Coors, KUSA and Aramark, are being "relocated to other spots." The cost of renting the space for games will be $110-140 per person, including food but not beverages, and the "mega-suite can be divided into three units, each of which can accommodate up to 65 people." The space is sold out for Opening Day, at a cost of $175 per person (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 2/6).
