Dodgers Sellout Exhibition
Game At Coliseum In An Hour
In L.A., Dylan Hernandez reported the Dodgers sold out the 90,505 tickets for their exhibition game against the Red Sox at the L.A. Coliseum  March 29 “within an hour of being put on sale” Saturday morning. Dodgers CMO Charles Steinberg estimated two-thirds of the tickets were bought by season-ticket holders. ThinkCure, a cancer research fund launched by the Dodgers last July, will receive all proceeds from the game (L.A. TIMES, 2/3).

PISTONS: In Detroit, Joanne Gerstner reports the Pistons’ opening-round playoff tickets will cost the same as regular-season tickets, which will put the average ticket 23.8% lower than last year, when the team's entrance to the playoffs revised ticket prices.  The price break “gets bigger as the price increases.” Palace Sports & Entertainment President & CEO Tom Wilson said, “Everyone has been affected by the economy and everyone is feeling it.” Prices for later playoff rounds have not been announced, but the team is “promising tickets also will be lower than the 2007 postseason” (DETROIT NEWS, 2/5).

RAMS: In St. Louis, Bill Coats reports Rams Exec VP & General Counsel Bob Wallace yesterday said that the “major factor” in freezing ticket prices for PSL holders next season was the club’s “desire to increase season-ticket sales, and not the Rams’ worst season since moving to St. Louis” in '95. Wallace said, “We want to encourage people to buy season tickets. That’s how you survive in this league, with a strong season-ticket base” (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 2/5).

BREWERS: The Brewers through Friday had sold about 9,000 nine-game ticket packages “that included a free home-opener ticket,” causing the team to end the offer. Instead, the club is offering fans buying the package a ticket to “any of the remaining 80 home games” as their free seat (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 2/2).
