Canucks Drop Orca Bay For Club-Branded Holding Company Name

The Canucks’ holding company has changed its name from Orca Bay Sports & Entertainment to Canucks Sports & Entertainment (CS&E), as the Orca Bay moniker “is still being used by former team owner John McCaw,” according to Matthew Sekeres of the Toronto GLOBE & MAIL. CS&E President & CEO Chris Zimmerman said that the team “wanted to keep ‘Canucks’ in the name for the holding company.” He added that the name “will have some branding benefits,” as “Canucks” will appear “on all company items and because that brand should be identified with first-rate hockey throughout British Columbia.” Sekeres notes the Orca Bay name had been in place since August ’95. Former Canucks owner Arthur Griffiths said that he “was sad about losing the name” (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 1/30).
