Option Offense: Celtics Selling Rights To Buy Playoff Tickets

Celtics Selling "Reservations" For Limited
Number Of Tickets To Home Playoff Games
The Celtics have begun selling “reservations” for a limited number of seats for home playoff games through TicketReserve.com and fans “can pay an upfront fee for the right to buy up to 8 tickets” for each matchup, according to Binyamin Appelbaum of the BOSTON GLOBE. Fans holding the reservations “are guaranteed the chance to buy a balcony-level seat at face value,” although the team has yet to establish ticket prices for the postseason. Options on NBA Finals tickets begin at $79, but can “only be used if the Celtics make the finals,” and no refunds are available. Also, refunds will not be given for options on Game 7 if the series does not last that long. Once all the options are sold for each possible game, fans “can resell those options to other bidders on the site.” The Celtics receive a profit from each transaction at the Web site (BOSTON GLOBE, 1/25).
