In Boston, Scott Van Voorhis reports Bonham Group President & CEO Rob Vogel contends that the Celtics could "bring in an extra $2-3[M] a year" by selling a presenting sponsorship deal (BOSTON HERALD, 1/18). SportsBusiness Journal first reported in December that the team was seeking a presenting sponsorship for the '08-09 season....adidas has approached agencies with a "pan-European brief to create an idea that will rival Nike's award-winning" Nike plus campaign, a partnership between Apple and Nike that featured a computer chip that transmits data from runners' shoes to their iPods. The pitch "does not effect" any of adidas current agency relationships (BRANDREPUBLIC.com, 1/17)....The All American Football League has announced a sponsorship deal with Schutt Sports that will see the company provide the league's six teams with helmets, pads, training aids, gear and reconditioning services. Schutt also will title sponsor the league's Offensive Player of the Week and Player of the Year Awards (AAFL). For more on the AAFL, see this week's SportsBusiness Journal....Octagon yesterday announced the signing of U.S. tennis player Donald Young for representation. The 18-year-old Young, who is currently No. 98 in the world rankings, previously was repped by IMG (THE DAILY).
