Tax Incentive: NBC To Add 75 Jobs In Stamford Due To Tax Credit

NBC's Stamford-based NBCSports.com and NBCOlympics.com units "expect to add 75 jobs in the city" by the end of the year, according to Peter Healy of the Stamford ADVOCATE. NBC Universal Senior VP & Tax Counsel Brian O'Leary said that the company was "inspired to expand in the city" by the state of Connecticut's recently-enacted 30% tax credit for filmmakers and digital media companies. O'Leary: "It has tilted the playing field in Connecticut's favor in attracting this high-tech industry." O'Leary added that job growth in Stamford would come from "a combination of relocated workers from undisclosed NBC sites outside Connecticut and new hires." NBC's digital operations currently employs more than 50 people (Stamford ADVOCATE, 1/16).
