CBC's "HNIC" Planning To Show Saturday's
Maple Leafs Game Only In Southern Ontario
In N.Y., Richard Sandomir reports former MLBer and YES Network analyst David Justice, who was "cited in the Mitchell report as having purchased [HGH], will no longer be a studio analyst for [the net] but will contribute columns and participate in chats on the channel's Web site." Justice, whose house was "destroyed in the San Diego wildfires last year," said that his "departure was based on wanting to be with his family during the rebuilding and not on being named" in the report (N.Y. TIMES, 1/16)....In Toronto, William Houston reports CBC's "Hockey Night In Canada" plans to "relegate the … Maple Leafs to the Southern Ontario market and give the [Penguins-Canadiens] game national distribution on Saturday night." The move marks "one of the few times in the past several years that the Leafs will not be seen outside Ontario" (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 1/16)....The National Women's Football Association Pittsburgh Passion is "close to finalizing a deal with FSN Pittsburgh to televise some of its 2008 home games." The franchise is also "negotiating with several television networks regarding distribution" of a self-titled documentary on the team, which "chronicles its 2007 championship season" (PITTSBURGH BUSINESS TIMES, 1/11 issue).
