Mobile Home: Bell Microproducts To Title New LPGA Event
San Jose-based Bell Microproducts has signed a three-year deal to title sponsor a new full-field LPGA event that will be played at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Course in Mobile, Alabama, according to Gareth Clary of the Mobile PRESS-REGISTER. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Bell Micro LPGA Classic, which will be played September 11-14, will have a total purse of $1.4M and will be televised by Golf Channel. Bell Microproducts President, Chair & CEO Don Bell said, “We think it will help the company and the exposure to golf fans. We’re sports-minded. We’re very competitive in our industry. We thrive on competition. We thrive on sports.” Clary reports Jim Johnson, who in ’05 was the LPGA Tournament of Champions Dir when it was held on the same course, will hold the same position for the event, and Birmingham-based Bruno Event Team “will be heavily involved in the tournament operations.” Bell Microproducts is also a sponsor of the IRL Rahal-Letterman Racing Team (Mobile PRESS-REGISTER, 1/11).
