MLB Rangers Hike Premium Seating Prices For Third Straight Year

Rangers Raising Single-Game
Ticket Prices On Premium Seats
The MLB Rangers for the third consecutive year have raised single-game ticket prices for the “most desirable seats” at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, according to Evan Grant of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Current season ticket holders will be able to "renew their seats at 2007 prices, [but] the single-game plan includes increases in seven of the high-end seating areas,” with most increases ranging from $1-5 per ticket. Seats in the Cuervo Club will "jump from $105 to $125 for regularly-priced games because food and beverage costs will also be covered.” Meanwhile, the number of premium pricing games will increase from seven last year to 12 in ’08 and, excluding tickets sold to children 13-and-under in the bleachers, upper reserved and grandstand, tickets to those games “will be more expensive.” The increases for premium games range from $1 to $23, with most of the hikes between 10-12%. Rangers Exec VP/Communications & PR Jim Sundberg said premium pricing is "just a trend in baseball. I believe 21 of the 30 clubs are now doing it. Again, it comes down to supply and demand. People are willing to do that for games against the Yankees and Boston and so forth. The Rangers are still affordable. Five of the six lower-price seating areas -- the family seats -- stayed at the same price" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 1/11).
