Chain Gang: Best Buy To Sponsor Front Of MLS Fire Jerseys
The MLS Fire are expected to announce next Tuesday a deal with Best Buy that will see the national retailer sponsor the front of the team's jerseys. A source valued the multi-year deal between $2-4M annually, saying it is the second-highest jersey deal in the league behind the Galaxy's $4-5M deal with Herbalife. Luis Arroyave of the Chicago Tribune first reported the story (Tripp Mickle, SportsBusiness Journal). The TRIBUNE's Arroyave noted Best Buy recently announced plans to expand into Mexico, and the Fire's signing of Mexican F Cuauhtemoc Blanco last year likely "played a part in this sponsorship deal" (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 1/9).
