Gibbs To Formally Announce Resignation
As Redskins Coach This Afternoon |
Redskins President & coach JOE GIBBS is resigning from both roles, according to Schneider & LaCanfora of the WASHINGTON POST. The team has scheduled a 3:00pm ET press conference to formally announce the move. Club officials said that Gibbs "will stay with the Redskins organization in some capacity, perhaps as a consultant" to Owner DAN SNYDER. The Redskins have not chosen a replacement for Gibbs, but team sources said a "process will be put in place" to choose a successor. Gibbs during his season wrap-up press conference yesterday "seemed to leave his options open, even though he has a year remaining on his current deal" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 1/8). In a separate piece, the POST's Jason LaCanfora writes the Redskins front office "will need some overhauling. ... Snyder has a massive say in their moves and acquisitions, so his voice remains. But you have to wonder how they figure out the front office" (BLOG.WASHINGTONPOST.com, 1/8).
