Turnstile Tracker: College Bowl Game Attendance Up 2.1%

The 32 college football bowl games this season attracted 1,733,490 fans, up 2.1% from 1,697,626 last season, and up 16.4% from the '05-06 bowl season. Last night's BCS National Championship game featuring LSU-Ohio State set a Superdome record with 79,651 fans in attendance. Other bowls also set record numbers for attendance, including the Poinsettia, Motor City and Armed Forces bowls. The Alamo Bowl featuring Penn State-Texas A&M was the most-attended sporting event in the history of the Alamodome and marked the game's sixth sellout in its 15-year history. The Las Vegas Bowl also saw its third consecutive sellout this year with BYU-UCLA, one year after it drew the largest crowd ever to see a team sporting event in the state of Nevada. The following presents NCAA bowl game attendance for the '07-08 season, with comparisons to previous years (THE DAILY).
