T'Wolves See Ratings, Attendance Declines; Taylor Still Positive

Taylor (l) Estimates T'Wolves
Will  Lose $10-15M This Season
T'Wolves Owner Glen Taylor estimates that the club, which traded F Kevin Garnett in the offseason and is off to a 3-21 record, will lose $10-15M this season, according to Jerry Zgoda of the Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, who writes under the header, "Wolves: The Worst Team Ever?" Four of the team's first eight games broadcast on FSN North have earned less than a 1.0 rating, which represents 16,784 local HHs.  The T'Wolves-Heat game on Monday drew just over 3,000 local HHs. The team also ranks 21st in home attendance with an average of 15,185 per game, a drop of around 800 from the '06-07 season.  That is "how many tickets are sold or given away, not the number of people in the arena." A team spokesperson said that the T'Wolves have sold just under 7,000 full-season ticket equivalents for this season.  Taylor maintained that the team is "reaching its projections in just about every category other than number of victories."  Taylor said of fan apathy, "I think it's gone the other way. The fan base is as good or better than we anticipated."  However, Zgoda notes the team's "rebirth ... has proved more painful than [Taylor] ever envisioned."  Taylor: "I said when we decided to [rebuild] that I needed to have patience.  It has taken me more patience than I anticipated" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 12/21).
