Brian Roberts Named Most Influential Person In Sports Business

Comcast Chair & CEO BRIAN ROBERTS has been named the most influential person in sports business by SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, which notes Roberts is "the most influential -- not to mention the most feared -- executive in the business." Roberts replaces ESPN/ABC President GEORGE BODENHEIMER at the top of the list; Bodenheimer ranked No. 1 the last two years. Roberts "helps contain the high cost of sports rights through Comcast, the largest cable operator" in the U.S., while also "[bidding] up the cost of sports rights through Comcast's two national sports networks, Versus and Golf Channel, and the company's batch" of RSNs (SBJ, 12/17 issue).
