Miles Inks Contract To Stay
At LSU For Five More Years
LSU football coach LES MILES has signed a new contract with the school through 2012 that will pay him at least $2.8M per season and "in the $3.4[M] range" if LSU wins the '08 BCS Championship game. The deal contains a two-year school option. Miles has a $1.25M buyout option to leave for the Univ. of Michigan, the same as his previous contract. The full LSU board "is expected to approve the contract today with little additional discussion" (Baton Rouge ADVOCATE, 12/7).

APPROPRIATE RESPONSE: During last night's Bears-Redskins game, NFL Network’s Adam Schefter reported Redskins Owner DANIEL SNYDER handled the aftermath of SEAN TAYLOR's death "just the way the Redskins would have hoped. He chartered three different planes -- one 747 for the entire organization to head to Florida on -- and two private planes, one for the offensive coaching staff, one for the defensive coaching staff. That was designed so that each coaching staff could work on their game plan for tonight’s game." Snyder also has contributed $500,000 to a fund for Taylor’s one-year-old daughter (NFL Network, 12/6).
