An ESPN and Seton Hall Univ. poll of 631 people found that 26.3% of white respondents thought MLB was "unfair" in its probe of free agent LF BARRY BONDS compared with 52.5% of black respondents who felt that way. Only 25.7% of whites felt that the government “was unfair in its probe,” of Bonds compared to 54.5% of blacks. And 34.8% of whites felt that Bonds’ all-time home run record “should not be marked with an asterisk or stricken from the record book,” compared to 50.4% of blacks (ESPN.com, 12/3).

Also, Proactive Sports Management (PSM) USA has acquired the practice of MLS player agent CRAIG SHARON, bringing PSM’s MLS client base to about 60 players (SBJ, 12/3 issue)....CAA Sports co-Heads MICHAEL LEVINE & HOWARD NUCHOW rank 25th on Details Magazine's Power 50, a list of the most influential men under 45 (DETAILS, 12/3 issue)…. MLB Senior VP/PR RICH LEVIN has been named the ’07 winner of the ROBERT O.FISHEL AWARD FOR PUBLIC RELATIONS EXCELLENCE (MLB)....The ECHL Cincinnati Cyclones on December 14 will host a “Pink In The Rink” game, featuring the first all-female off-ice officiating crew in pro hockey history. The ice at U.S. Bank Arena will be pink, and the team will wear pick jerseys to be auctioned off after the game to raise money for breast cancer research (USA TODAY, 12/5)….PGAer FUZZY ZOELLER has dropped a lawsuit against Miami-based Josef Silny & Associates “after failing to learn who had posted defamatory statements about him” on Wikipedia. Zoeller brought the lawsuit in February “alleging the statements had been posted on Wikipedia from a computer belonging to Silny.” The postings included accusations of Zoeller “abusing drugs, alcohol and his family” (MIAMI HERALD, 12/5).

IN MEMORY: Former CFL Commissioner JAKE GADAUER has died at the age of 87. The league’s fifth commissioner from ’68-84, Gadauer was a key figure in the founding of the CFL HOF. He was also a player and exec for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (CFL).
