Lucas Oil Stadium To Feature
Two HD Daktronics Scoreboards |
The Indiana Stadium & Convention Building Authority yesterday unanimously approved a $11.4M deal for two HD scoreboards at the Colts' new Lucas Oil Stadium that will measure approximately 97 feet high by 53 feet wide, according to Meagan Ingerson of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. The scoreboards will consist of three screens each and will hang in the stadium's northwest and southeast corners. Each will feature a single 97-foot-by-37-foot screen, "five times larger than the scoreboard in the RCA Dome." Daktronics Sales Manager Bo Ivers, whose company will provide the scoreboards, said that the Steelers are the only NFL team that "can claim a similar system." He added that Colts' scoreboards will be the largest to use the company's HD technology. However, they will not be larger than the approximately 150-foot-wide, 50-foot-high scoreboard at the Univ. of Texas' Royal-Memorial Stadium, the largest in existence. Ingerson notes the contract also includes 1,700 feet of ribbon board and LED displays "that will be at the second tier of the stadium" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 11/27).
