Reds COO John Allen Announces Resignation Effective January 1
Reds COO JOHN ALLEN resigned yesterday, effective January 1, after almost 13 years with the club, according to John Fay of the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER. Allen, when asked why he was stepping down, said, “It’s time.” Reds CEO BOB CASTELLINI said the decision to leave was fully made by Allen. Among his contributions to the franchise, Allen said that he is “most proud" of the annual Redsfest event, the team HOF & Museum and the Reds Community Fund. Allen will stay on as a consultant "until the Reds find a new spring training home.” Castellini said that Allen “will not be replaced," and his responsibilities will be taken by other staffers. Fay notes it has been speculated that former Cardinals GM WALT JOCKETTY “could end up with the Reds.” But Castellini “rejected the notion of bringing in a baseball person as team president” (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 11/14).
