Facility Notes

With 20 of the 30 NHL teams this season moving the goal judge from behind the net, Ducks GM Brian Burke said, “We’re all about entertainment here, and this has freed us up room for four top-dollar seats. In some buildings, I’m told, taking the booth out cleared up room for six seats. It’s economic.” Devils President, CEO & GM Lou Lamoriello estimated that without a goal judge booth at each end of the Prudential Center, the team can sell $1,500 in tickets for seats that “would have had to be removed,” equating to $61,500 for 41 regular-season home games (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 11/10).

Fans Helping Themselves To
Souvenirs At The Orange Bowl
STEALING HOME: In Miami, Michael Vasquez reported with the Univ. of Miami playing its final home game at the Orange Bowl on Saturday, fans have been “swiping the seats” at the stadium at a rate of about 15-20 per home game, with the number reaching more than 50 on occasion. The stadium "hasn’t had to order new seats,” as replacements were on hand. Fans also took at least seven signs from the stadium during the North Carolina State game on November 3 (MIAMI HERALD, 11/10).

NOTES: In N.Y., George Willis wrote with six boxing cards over the past 15 months, MSG has had a “series of meaningful fights that has restored the luster of fight night at the Garden for both fans and fighters.” MSG Senior VP Joel Fisher has been the “point man leading the resurgence of boxing” (N.Y. POST, 11/11)....North Carolina-based NewBridge Bank has signed a ten-year deal “expected to total nearly $3[M]” for naming rights to the Single-A South Atlantic League Greensboro Grasshoppers’ First Horizon Park.  The ballpark will be renamed NewBridge Bank Park (Greensboro NEWS & RECORD, 11/10).
