With NASCAR’s television ratings dropping at an alarming rate (down 16.7% from Atlanta’s 2007 telecast) and a half-full house at said track … it is past time for a change at the top of the NASCAR hierarchy.

Bloggers who felt the ratings slump was not a problem for NASCAR were counted positive and represented 11.76% of posts, while posts arguing decline in ratings was a sign of bigger issues were counted negative at 58.83%. 29.41% were neutral.   • The topic ranked 2 out of 10 on The Buzz, indicating a low level of interest.
  • Rare positive sentiment came from bloggers who felt the excitement of NASCAR will carry it through the current ratings lull.
  • Negative sentiment stemmed from bloggers who felt the ratings have declined as a direct result of ESPN/ABC’s coverage, citing the network’s announcers, excessive commercials and tendency to roll credits as soon as the race is finished.
