Blog Hound: Giants-Dolphins In London

On Sunday, the first ever game of the Bridgestone NFL International Series -- and the first regular-season NFL game played outside North America -- featured the Giants beating the Dolphins 13-10 in London’s Wembley Stadium.  Bloggers debate the success of the event as a showcase for American football.

  • The topic ranked 7 out of 10 on The Buzz, indicating a medium level of interest.
  • Positive sentiment came from bloggers who thought the event accurately depicted the American football experience to British sports fans. Many thought the glitz and glamour of the NFL and the game itself would help build a worldwide following.
  • Negative sentiment stemmed from bloggers who felt the event failed for two major reasons. First, the game itself was ugly and boring. Second, one game a year will not suffice to build a following in a country that loves soccer.
