Braves Adding Below-Ground Luxury Club Behind Home Plate
The Braves are building the Turner Field Dugout Club, "one of [MLB's] highest-end clubs" that will be closer to home plate "than those at any other stadium in the league," according to John Manasso of the ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE. The approximately 150 new seats will be "as close as 43 feet from home plate," and part of a "country-club like lounge that will be 15 feet below ground level underneath the stadium." Construction on the club could begin by the end of this month, and the Braves will start selling tickets "for which they plan to accept only multi-year commitments" at $15,000-25,000 annually. Braves Exec VP/Sales & Marketing Derek Schiller estimated that eight to 10 MLB teams offer similar clubs, but this will be the "smallest, mostly because of the limitations of the physical plant." The project is expected to bring $2.25-3.75M of additional revenue per season. The team "is in discussions to sell naming rights" for the club (ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE, 10/12 issue).
