Giants LF BARRY BONDS' record-breaking home run ball was featured on NBC's "Today" this morning. Host MEREDITH VIEIRA held the ball that was protected in a small glass case as co-hosts MATT LAUER and AL ROKER discussed fashion designer MARC ECKO's options as to what to do with the ball. Vieira told audience members they could vote on what they believe Ecko should do with the ball. The voting ends at 11:59 pm ET tonight. Ecko will appear on the show tomorrow to announce the winning vote ("Today," NBC, 9/25). 

Crowe Bringing His Rugby
Team To Florida To Train
GLADIATOR: Actor RUSSELL CROWE yesterday announced the South Sydney Rabbitohs, the Australian rugby team Crowe co-owns, will hold a two-week training camp at the Univ. of North Florida, as well as an exhibition game between the Rabbitohs and English club Leeds Rhinos (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 9/25). Crowe also struck a deal with Versus to air "SOUTH SIDE STORY," a series he produced about the Rabbitohs, starting October 10. The series follows the team's "rise to prominence as a contender" (TVWEEK.com, 9/23).

NAMES: Nike Chair PHIL KNIGHT sold 1.98 million of the company's shares this month, which at today's stock price are valued at $114M (BLOOMBERG, 9/24)....After purchasing a $16M estate outside Boston previously owned by Dodgers Owner FRANK MCCOURT, Red Sox Owner JOHN HENRY plans to demolish it  (BOSTON HERALD, 9/25)....Media Networks co-Chair and Disney-ABC Television Group President ANNE SWEENEY will be part of a presidential delegation to the Special Olympics Summer Games opening ceremony next week in China. Sweeney, a board member of the Special Olympics, will be joined by Olympian MICHELLE KWAN, Baseball HOFer ERNIE BANKS and Special Olympics Founder EUNICE KENNEDY SHRIVER, among others (DAILY VARIETY, 9/25)....The SEC yesterday charged former NFLer SEAN JONES with failing to turn over the records from his investment advisory business, Amaroq Asset Management. Jones said that he discontinued the business in '04, but the company maintained a Web site until this year touting its wealth management programs (S.F. CHRONICLE, 9/25).
