Ain't So Badds: MacGregor Ceasing PGA Tour Marketing Efforts

Baddeley Says MacGregor Golf
Abandoning PGA Tour Marketing Efforts
MacGregor Golf endorser Aaron Baddeley indicated that the company is "abandoning its [PGA Tour] marketing efforts" in '08, according to Miceli & Hamilton of GOLFWEEK. Baddeley is "seeking a new equipment contract" for next season. While MacGregor VP/Marketing North America Rob Johnson said that it was "premature to address" the company's plans for '08, he "would not dispute Baddeley's assertion." Johnson: "Everything is being considered, from changes to tour staff to additions to tour staff to you name it." Baddeley said that MacGregor has "not paid him in full for services rendered this season," to which Johnson declined to comment.  Baddeley has been playing TaylorMade metalwoods for most of the '07 season, and a source close to Baddeley said that the company has "offered him an equipment deal that also will include irons, [a] golf bag and hat." The source also indicated that Baddeley "likely will continue his ball and glove deal with Titleist" (GOLFWEEK, 9/22 issue).

ADIDAS: adidas is bringing its TechFit PowerWeb technology, already in underclothing worn by Saints RB Reggie Bush, soccer players and track athletes, to its golf line. The line "features form-fitting underwear reinforced in specific muscle areas to aid better posture, diminish fatigue and 'promote solid and consistent ball-striking,' among other claims" (GOLF WORLD, 9/21 issue).
