Media Notes

In Toronto, William Houston reports NBC has approached the CBC about "sharing information on the system it used to transmit video feeds from the Athens and Turin Games to domestic headquarters." The technology enables networks "to compress multiple feeds into one signal, which is sent from the event site directly to the network's domestic base where it is opened up, edited and put on the air."  The cost-saving measure allows technicians to "work from home" rather than traveling to the event.  It is also "anticipated that NBC and CBC will send fewer on-air broadcasters" to the '08 Beijing Games (Toronto GLOBE AND MAIL, 8/30)....The Rams agreed to a deal with FSN Midwest, allowing the net to produce and air two shows under the "Rams Weekly" banner.  The net will air "Rams Weekly All-Access," a feature-driven behind-the-scenes show covering community initiatives and featuring game highlights, and "Rams Weekly: Postgame" (Rams)....Team 19 Marketing's "NASCAR My Race Interactive DVD" allows fans to control the viewing experience of each race and includes bonus footage examining the stories of the weekend. The DVD set costs $34.95 per race and there is a free DVD set for every three purchased.  Team 19 Marketing obtained the rights to the races from NASCAR Images (NASCAR.com, 8/28).
