Hill To Sing Theme Song To
NBC's "Sunday Night Football"
Faith Hill will replace Pink as the singer of NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” theme song, “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” (N.Y. TIMES, 8/24)....NBC's “Football Night in America" co-host Keith Olbermann, who is under contract with ESPN Radio through March, said that he will “likely be involved with its postseason baseball coverage” (VENTURA COUNTY STAR, 8/24).

BRONX IS BURNING: Billy Martin Jr., a Texas-based sports agent and son of late Yankees manager Billy Martin, indicated that actor John Turturro’s portrayal of his father in ESPN’s mini-series “The Bronx is Burning” is “dead on.” Martin: “ESPN was very fair to my father. They show women, but they show church. They show drinking, but they show baseball genius.”  Martin Jr. gives Oliver Platt "a thumbs up" for his portrayal of Yankees Owner George Steinbrenner “for his Boss-like mannerisms and voice inflections,” but a “not-so-thumbs-up” to Daniel Sunjata for his portrayal of Baseball HOFer Reggie Jackson (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 8/24).

NOTES: In N.Y., Phil Mushnick reports this Sunday's Dodgers-Mets game, which was scheduled as “kids' promotional day announced months ago,” has been moved from 1:15pm ET to 8:05pm “on behalf of MLB's deal with ESPN” (N.Y. POST, 8/24)....In K.C., Jeffrey Flanagan writes FSN Midwest, which takes over from RSTN as the Royal's rights holder next season, is likely to air 140 regular-season Royals games, up from 114, and two exhibition games in ’08. Also, “expect FSN to introduce about” 30-40 in HD. FSN Midwest GM Jack Donovan said of HD games, “Eventually, you’d like to do them all. But it’s not practical right now because of the availability of trucks and equipment, and cost concerns” (K.C. STAR, 8/24).....Bob Salmi will replace Steve Mix as 76ers game analyst on Comcast SportsNet broadcasts. He will also continue his role as the net’s post-game analyst for about 20 games. Salmi’s deal is “believed to be a 2-year contract,” and he will work 80 of the team’s 82 regular-season games (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 8/24).
