In Atlanta, Tim Tucker wrote the Hawks' new color scheme “necessitates a new basketball floor” for Philips Arena, and the smaller court apron will “allow an additional row of premium courtside seats” to be added along the sideline opposite the scorer’s table. At $300 per game as a season ticket and $375 for an individual game, the 54-seat row “could generate about $700,000 in revenue.” Team officials said that that would be “enough to pay for the new floor and all other costs associated with the Hawks’ change of color scheme, uniforms and logos” (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 8/12)....The Royals have introduced Mobile Phone Tickets technology at Kauffman Stadium. The service allows fans to have tickets delivered directly to their phone via a text message that includes a bar code. Once the bar code is scanned, fans receive a printed receipt of their ticket (Royals)....Int’l Speedway Corp. plans to build new media facilities at Watkins Glen Int’l in time for next year’s NASCAR Nextel Cup race (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 8/13).
