NBA Working On New Ad
Campaign For Next Season |
The NBA will debut a new ad campaign for next season, themed “Where Amazing Happens,” via Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, S.F., as part of a “completely overhauled branding effort,” according to John Lombardo of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Team presidents were presented concepts of the campaign during their meetings July 26-27 in N.Y. While the campaign is an “independent effort unrelated to the NBA’s referee gambling scandal, it likely will play a critical role in the league’s effort to distance itself from the scandal and drive fan interest beginning next season.” The NBA is “keeping details of the campaign under wraps until the season draws closer.” But Atlanta Spirit President & CEO Bernie Mullin said the campaign is “very clever and creative. It speaks to the passion of the game and it resonated among team personnel who saw it” (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 8/13 issue).
