T'Wolves Team With Topps For Trading-Card-Style Tickets

Casson Feels Trading-Card-Style Tickets Unique
Way For Topps To Showcase Sponsorship
Under the T’Wolves’ sponsorship deal with Topps, the team’s '07-08 season tickets will feature a “different Topps basketball card for each game, with an average of three different cards for each Wolves player over the course of the season,” according to John Vomhof Jr. of the MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL BUSINESS JOURNAL.  The T’Wolves will be the first NBA team to introduce the trading-card-style tickets, which Topps first tried with the Tigers and Pirates this season.  T’Wolves Senior VP/Corporate Sales & Services Ethan Casson said, “Is there a (rate of return) model attached to Topps selling more trading-card packs based on season tickets?  Probably not, but I think it’s a unique way for them to showcase who they are.”  Vomhof notes the team has introduced “more integrated sponsorships in recent years,” including Lexus’ sponsorship of courtside seats and countertop maker Cambria’s sponsorship of a 148-person luxury suite at Target Center.  Casson: “The more creative you can become and the more integrated you can become, I think that’s a competitive advantage” (MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL BUSINESS JOURNAL, 7/20 issue).
