Fox Soccer Channel To Air Weekly Series On Beckham, MLS

Fox Soccer Channel To Air
Weekly Series On Beckham
Fox Soccer Channel next Wednesday will debut "David Beckham's Soccer USA" (see THE DAILY, 7/6), a 13-show series of 30-minute episodes that will "follow Beckham on his American odyssey with exclusive footage and interviews," as well as MLS news and highlights, according to Jack Bell of the N.Y. TIMES.  The show is produced by 19 Entertainment, which reps Beckham, in association with MLS and Soccer United Marketing.  The show, which will be based at a different MLS game each week, "will be broadcast around the world, making it the first original programming to showcase MLS, its games and players outside" the U.S. (N.Y. TIMES, 7/18).

ALL-STAR APPEARANCE: USA TODAY's Michael Hiestand reports Beckham will be interviewed during tomorrow night's MLS All-Star Game on ESPN2. The net will also talk to Saints RB Reggie Bush about the duo's adidas ads during Beckham's expected debut game with the Galaxy Saturday against Chelsea (USA TODAY, 7/18).

POSH SURROUNDINGS: NBC's one-hour special, "Victoria Beckham: Coming to America," ranked second in its 8:00pm ET time slot Monday night, garnering 5.1 million viewers.  A repeat of ABC's "Wife Swap" won the hour.  The Beckham show did win the adults 18-49 demo with 2.2 million viewers, but the number "wasn't impressive" as it was "nearly doubled" by Fox' "Hell's Kitchen" in the next hour.  NBC is slated to rebroadcast the special tomorrow at 10:00pm (USA TODAY, 7/18).
