Bruins Using New Tactics To Attract Season-Ticket Holders

Bruins Expanding Boardroom
With All 125 Memberships Sold |
The Bruins brought in more than $100,000 in new revenue from seat upgrades and new sales after the team recently allowed season-ticket holders to hand-pick their seats from inside the TD Banknorth Garden, according to Keith Reed of the BOSTON GLOBE. The event “signaled how far the Bruins are going to keep fans coming to games” three years after the lockout and the team’s last winning record. The Bruins hired two sales and marketing execs from the Magic to oversee an expanded ticket sales and customer service operation that includes ten new salespeople, and last week, “several Bruins players called season ticket holders, inviting them to lunch.” About 900 of the 1,100 Premium Club seats, 80 of the 94 luxury suites and all 125 Boardroom memberships -- which include tickets for two -- have been sold. The Boardroom this offseason is being expanded to accommodate more people. The Bruins are also “doing more to fill cheaper seats.” Starting next season, the team is extending its offer of half-price tickets for students, which was previously available only for Thursday-night games, to include every game and is reserving two sections in the arena to accommodate them. The team is also “considering a season long family discount, but plans aren’t yet final.” Attendance at Bruins games last season fell to an average of 14,795 per game, compared with an average of 16,212 in the ’05-06 season (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/12).
