Faldo Says He Has Quadrupled His
Income Since Leaving IMG In '03
FALDO: CBS and Golf Channel analyst Nick Faldo, who left IMG in ’03, said of the company, “They didn’t build your brand as much as you were building theirs, and having won six majors but being just one of their 62 golfers didn’t feel good. ”  He said that he has “quadrupled his income by having his own marketing team.”  USA TODAY's Michael Hiestand notes Faldo has his own line of wines from Australia and has a deal with Maybach cars.  He has also opened 22 golf courses and has 20 more “in the works” (USA TODAY, 7/9).

SABAN: The Alabama Department of Revenue said that since Nick Saban was hired as Univ. of Alabama (UA) football coach on January 3, sales of UA vehicle tags during Q1 '07 rose by 15.1% over the same period a year ago, while Auburn Univ. tag sales increased by 12.1%.  Bama Fever Manager Brendan Beard said that sales of UA-licensed trademark merchandise have also “shot up.”  Beard: “The first quarter this year, we’re up probably 50[%]” (HUNTSVILLE TIMES, 7/8).
