Also Chicago 2016 Senior Adviser DOUGLAS SMITH is leaving the committee to return to DC with his family. Smith has joined the DC office of Hill & Knowlton, which is handling PR for Chicago 2016 (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 6/28)....FIFA named Dir of Marketing & TV JEROME VALCKE General Secretary and Dir of Finance & Controlling MARKUS KATTNER Deputy General Secretary (FIFA).
FRANCHISE: Newcastle United named CHRISTOPHER MORT Deputy Chair and STEVE HAYWARD non-Exec Dir. Previously, Mort advised new Owner MIKE ASHLEY on the recent US$1.8BUS flotation of his Sports Direct company and Hayward was an exec at Sports Direct. In addition, BRUCE SHEPHERD, the brother of former Newcastle Chair FREDDY SHEPHERD, and DOUGLAS HALL and ALLISON ANTONOPOULOS, the children of former Newcastle Owner SIR JOHN HALL, have resigned from the BOD (Manchester GUARDIAN, 6/27)....The WNBA Comets named ANDY AWEIDA CEO.
