In Orlando, Andrea Adelson noted the Jaguars and Dolphins are “searching for corporate sponsors” to name their respective stadiums, the Citrus Bowl does not have a naming-rights partner and the Magic “tried finding a replacement for TD Waterhouse when their naming-rights deal expired before landing their sister company Amway.”  Team Services Principal E.J. Narcise: “I don’t know that it’s the state of Florida; I would look at the individual challenges in each city. … Renaming a stadium in Orlando is going to be a challenge. And Jacksonville is a much more regional sell” (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 6/23).

NOTES: Scottrade CEO Rodger Riney said of the naming-rights deal the company signed with the Blues in September, “Almost everyone now has heard of us.  We think it’s been good for us.  It needed a name, and we wanted to do it.”  He added that the deal has also “helped the company recruit employees” (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 6/24)....Outgoing DC Sports & Entertainment Commission CEO Allen Lew said the biggest challenge remaining in the construction of a new Nationals ballpark, which is expected to open in ‘08, is “coming up with an inventory of parking spaces to meet game day requirements” (WASHINGTON POST, 6/23)....The MLS Wizards have moved into a new 7,000-square-foot practice facility, which contains locker, training and weight rooms and two new playing fields (K.C. STAR, 6/23).
