NFL To Only Allow Web Sites To Use
45 Seconds Of Non-Game Footage Per Day |
Under a new NFL policy, credentialed Web sites can use up to 45 seconds per day
of audio and video of non-game content, including interviews or press conferences
with players and coaches and practice footage, according to Don Walker of the
MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. The policy states that the audio or video “cannot
be used live and may be archived for 24 hours.” Last season, the NFL allowed “unlimited
online audio and video [of] non-game content.” Game video will continue to be
the property of NFL.com. Philadelphia Inquirer Exec Sports Editor and AP Sports
Editors President Jim Jenks said of the new policy, “We would like more. But in
fairness, it’s a first step.” NFL VP/PR Greg Aiello said, “We can’t allow somebody
to take our content and create a program around it unless we are licensing it”
(MILWAUKEE
JOURNAL SENTINEL, 5/19).
