Romo Starring In TV Spot For Diet Pepsi Max |
Cowboys QB Tony Romo, Owner Jerry Jones and coach Wade Phillips were scheduled
to shoot the first ad for a PespiCo brand for the ‘07 NFL season last week,
according to Terry Lefton in this week’s SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. The spot,
via BBDO, N.Y., will support the new Diet Pepsi Max diet/energy drink. The national
rollout for the beverage is scheduled for June, but the ad “won’t
air until after NFL training camps start.” The last two seasons, Diet Pepsi
ads, via DDB Needham, featured a football-playing vending machine. Meanwhile,
Campbell Soup and Prilosec heartburn medication have renewed as NFL corporate
sponsors. Genesco Sports is “now working with Campbell’s, which should
result in more powerful retail programs.” Genesco now has six clients with
NFL rights including Coors, Frito-Lay, Motorola, PepsiCo and Sirius, along with
MasterCard for “numerous NFL team deals” (SPORTSBUSINESS
JOURNAL, 5/14 issue).
