Gatorade Gracing Silver Screen In Upcoming “Gracie” Film
Gatorade is “playing a major role in ‘Gracie,’” an independent film that follows
a girl in her quest to join a competitive all-male soccer team after the death
of her brother, its star player,” according to Cheryl Jackson of the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES.
Gatorade will have special packaging on its 15-pack bottles that includes a free
instructional DVD featuring athletes such as soccer players Mia Hamm and Landon
Donovan. The film, which opens June 1, is produced by Andrew Shue and stars his
sister, Elisabeth. Before Gatorade signed on, it “demanded guarantees that the
film be released on at least 1,000 screens, have a specific release date, and
have a minimum amount of dedicated studio money for advertising.” Gatorade “even
played a part in the casting.” PepsiCo corporate sibling Mountain Dew sponsored
and produced the ’05 snowboarding doc “First Descent” (CHICAGO
SUN-TIMES, 5/11).
