Boosting Ticket Sales

Warriors President Robert Rowell said that the team sold 600 season tickets for ’07-08 “about four days before the Warriors qualified for the postseason,” and the season-ticket base is expected to grow from 8,000 at the beginning of this season to 12,000 by the fall, according to Scott Howard-Cooper of the SACRAMENTO BEE. Rowell: “Right now, we’re climbing close to 10,000. But if we can get in that 12,000 range, which we definitely will (with) the playoffs, it’ll be huge for us” (SACRAMENTO BEE, 4/27). In S.F., Dan Fost cites online ticket sellers as saying that Warriors ticket prices are “outstripping those of every other NBA team.” TicketsNow.com spokesperson Jennifer Swanson said, “They’re far and away the winners as far as the No. 1 seller in the last seven days.” StubHub PR Dir Sean Pate added, “The sales have even astounded us, and we’re in the biz of looking at high-value teams and demand. The Warriors have doubled that of the next highest selling NBA team.” Tickets to the Mavericks-Warriors first-round playoff series are fetching an average of $227 on StubHub.com. StubHub said that it has sold “more than 2,000 Warriors tickets so far, and courtside seats command as much as $1,700.” One pair of courtside tickets is going for $10,000 for Thursday’s Game Six (S.F. CHRONICLE, 4/27).
