Nest Egg: HOK Releases Drawings Of New Louisville Arena
HOK Sport released details of the new 22,000-seat, $252M Louisville arena yesterday, and 11,348 seats will be located in the lower bowl, according to John Karman III of the BUSINESS FIRST OF LOUISVILLE. The arena will have 72 suites on two levels, and the main concourse level will house 2,000 club seats and a “sports bar and restaurant with daily public access.” The upper level will include 350 loge box seats and 1,000 club seats, with private lounges for both areas. There will also be a public food court (BIZJOURNALS.com, 4/23). In Louisville, Marcus Green reports seats behind the baskets will be “steeper but closer to the court,” and the 11,348 seats in the lower bowl are an increase of more than 4,000 from Freedom Hall. HOK said that the arena, which is scheduled to open by fall 2010, will have “wider seats than the industry standard.” Seats will be 20 inches wide in the upper bowl, compared to 19 inches “in many arenas.” The distance between a seat and the one in front of it will be 33 inches –- “deeper than at Freedom Hall” (Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL, 4/24).
