Blues CEO Helps Get NHL Playoff Games Televised In St. Louis
The three remaining NHL Stanley Cup playoff games that are being played at the
same time St. Louis’ KSDK-NBC will show Cardinals games will be picked up by FSN
Midwest, according to Dan Caesar of the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH. After Flames-Red
Wings-Flames did not air in St. Louis on April 15, Blues Enterprises CEO Peter
McLoughlin called KSDK General Sales Manager Mike Meara and FSN Midwest GM Jack
Donovan, whose station is a Blues TV partner. McLoughlin then called the NHL,
which contacted Versus and NBC. The “complex deal finally was finalized Friday
afternoon.” McLoughlin: “We’d love for the Blues to be in the playoffs, but barring
that we certainly want our fans to be able to watch the playoff games.” Sources
said that FSN Midwest is not getting paid to carry the NHL, “which some over-the-air
stations had wanted to carry the games.” FSN Midwest was expected to pre-empt
taped programming to air Sunday’s Devils-Lightning Game Six. But “still unresolved
is what will happen to other NBC events this summer that will be pre-empted” by
Cardinals telecasts including the French Open, Wimbledon and the final round of
several PGA Tour tournaments (ST.
