PGA Tour Bumps Up Zach Johnson Spot After Masters Victory

By Jon Show, Senior Staff Writer

The PGA Tour has moved up the airing of a new FedExCup TV spot that stars Zach Johnson, who won The Masters last Sunday. The ad, via GSD&M, Austin, also features ’03 British Open winner Ben Curtis and will break on CBS’ coverage of the Verizon Heritage this weekend. It was originally slated to run later this spring. In the 30-second spot, titled “Do Not Disturb,” Curtis and Johnson walk the hallway of their hotel before Johnson turns in to prepare for an early tee time the next day. Curtis flips the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door to “Maid Service Please” before walking away saying, “Sweet dreams Zach.”

TROPHY LIFE: The ad is the third in a series of spots focused around Tour players’ desire to win the inaugural FedExCup trophy. Johnson appeared in an earlier iteration that aired around Valentine’s Day called “First Kiss.” The Tour’s $40M ad campaign has remained fairly fluid this season as it attempts to promote a wide variety of players. Plans for an upcoming Charles Howell III ad were hatched after he won the Nissan Open in February.
