Octagon Adds Former USOC Exec Cheryl Herbert

By Liz Mullen, Staff Writer, SportsBusiness Journal

Octagon has hired former USOC Dir of Marketing & Communications CHERYL HERBERT in the newly-created position of Associate Dir of Olympics & Action Sports, part of an effort by the agency to beef up prior to the ’08 Beijing Olympics. “She is a great fit for what we need,” said Octagon Dir of Olympics & Action Sports PETER CARLISLE, the agent to swimmers MICHAEL PHELPS and KATIE HOFF. Herbert worked with the USOC’s sponsors in her ten years with the organizations. Herbert will work with Carlisle “to create platforms and programs” that go beyond “traditional endorsements,” Carlisle said. Octagon has also hired Gold Medal-winning snowboarder HANNAH TETER’s brother, AMEN TETER — who has acted as his sister’s manager — as an agent. Additionally, Octagon hired two-time Olympic snowboarder TRICIA BYRNES as a Client Service Manager.
