Toronto FC Stops Selling Season Tickets For Inaugural Season

Toronto FC Cuts Off Sales Of Season Tickets
Toronto FC said it has sold out of ’07 season tickets and luxury suites for its inaugural MLS season. The team has sold 14,000 season tickets at the 20,000-seat BMO Field at Exhibition Place (Toronto FC). MLSE Exec VP & COO Tom Anselmi said that cutting off season-ticket sales “was necessary because of commitments to group sales and so the team could keep tickets available for mini-packages and single-game sales.” The team will sell half-season packages starting April 2 and create a season-ticket waiting list. In Toronto, Larry Millson writes MLSE execs “thought there would be a good response to the team, but this has exceeded their expectations” (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 3/16).

RAPIDS: The Rapids are offering a new $51-96 ticket package called the “Becks Flex Pack,” which includes tickets to the August 26 game against the Galaxy and MF David Beckham. Remaining tickets include a choice of two of four games against either the Fire, Real Salt Lake, Red Bulls or Revolution. The Rapids sold out of single-game tickets for the Galaxy match in 90 minutes (DENVER POST, 3/14).

CONCACAF CHAMPIONS CUP: United’s 1-1 draw against Mexican club Chivas de Guadalajara on Thursday night “in the rain and cold at RFK Stadium” drew “a pro-Chivas crowd” of 26,528 (WASHINGTON POST, 3/16). The Dynamo’s 2-0 win over Mexican club FC Pachuca at Robertson Stadium on Thursday drew 13,007 fans. The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday but was postponed due to a power failure at the stadium (Mult., 3/16).
