Daniel Snyder Recruits Experienced Execs For Red Zone II

Redskins Owner DANIEL SNYDER is “lining up an experienced management team” to run his $750M private equity fund, Red Zone Capital Partners II, according to Thomas Heath of the WASHINGTON POST. Sources said that Snyder has hired Carlyle Group Senior Associate STEVEN HAM as Principal of the fund and Manugistics Group Chair & CEO GREGORY OWENS and TCW Group Portfolio Manager CHRISTOPHER AINLEY as Managing Dirs. Red Zone II is “on the prowl for ‘under-marketed companies’ that appeal to Snyder’s appetite for high-risk, high-reward investments.” With Snyder having lured Redskins coach JOE GIBBS out of retirement with a $5M salary and offering a “similar-size signing bonus” to MARK SHAPIRO to become Six Flags President & CEO, SportsCorp President MARC GANIS said Snyder “has a reputation that when he wants to have somebody work with him or get involved in a business, he is very generous and will pay whatever it takes. The flip side of that coin is that he has high expectations and he demands that people perform to his standards” (WASHINGTON POST, 3/6).
