The Cubs confirmed that the “interim” tag has been removed and JOHN MCDONOUGH’s
title is President. The team never made a formal announcement about the move (DAILY
SOUTHTOWN, 2/27)....American Skiing Co. Founder & former CEO LESLIE OTTEN
has resigned from the company’s BOD amid speculation that the Utah-based company
“may be looking to sell its Sunday River and Sugarloaf USA ski resorts in Maine.”
The company recently announced it was selling its resorts in Vermont and New Hampshire,
leaving it with only the two resorts in Maine and The Canyons in Utah (AP,
2/26)....Career Sports & Entertainment named WILLIAM PATE President.
Pate, who was CMO for Retail Markets at BellSouth, “is among many executives who
decided to leave the company” after it was bought by AT&T in December (ATLANTA
CONSTITUTION, 2/27).
MOVING FORE-WARD: SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL’s Liz Mullen reports Wasserman
Media Group (WMG) “has launched a golf player representation division,” naming
IMG Head of Recruiting JAY DANZI Dir of Golf. WMG Management President
ARN TELLEM: “We hired him with a long-term perspective to build a golf
division.” Danzi’s clients, including BEN CURTIS and HUNTER MAHAN,
will remain with IMG as he “was not able to take clients with him” (SBJ,
2/26 issue).

Field PA Announcer ALAN ROACH is stepping down after 14 years. Roach, who
has also been the announcer for the last two Super Bowls, said that he was leaving
the Rockies “because of family responsibilities and other professional opportunities”
(AP, 2/26).
